Marvella Community Update: CCSD Response to Bus Stop Safety Concerns & Traffic Circle Proposal

To the Residents of Marvella:

The Marvella Board, along with the help of some neighborhood residents, are once again actively pursuing ways to improve the Orchard entrance and traffic flow in and out of our neighborhood. In an effort to make as much noise as possible, we are appealing to a variety of audiences in hopes of catching a sympathetic ear and actually accomplishing our goals.

One resident has successfully connected with the Cherry Creek Schools concerning our “ongoing issues with speeding vehicles during school pick-up and drop-off times, as well as the lack of a stop sign, traffic light, or crosswalk—conditions that present a safety risk to children and families, and contribute to overall traffic concerns in that area”.

She also shared the board’s discussion around the potential installation of a traffic circle to help slow down traffic in that area and improve safety at that location.

Thankfully, her appeal has caught their attention and the Greenwood Village officer you may have noticed sitting in our entrance at school bus times was sent by the CCSD to, “monitor and regulate traffic during morning bus pick-up times for the foreseeable future”. They are also reviewing the request for a traffic circle and crosswalk at that location.

We are sending this to keep you informed of just one of the recent projects the board and residents are going to be focusing on. We are also going to be setting up a few formal Neighborhood Committees and would love for anyone interested to get involved. This one in particular would be the Traffic and Safety committee. Please email Michael Schenfeld, mschenfeld@crsofcolorado.com, if you would like to join this effort.
